Russia's supersonic "White Swan" bomber in action over Syria
Since Tuesday Russia, who had up until now mainly targeted the Syrian opposition to aid Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, is conducting a massive operation against the Islamic State.
One of the planes in use in this operation is the huge Tupolew TU-160.
It’s length is 54.10 m, with a wingspan of 55.70 m (when wings are spread).
The giant weighs over 260 tons when fully loaded and reaches a maximum speed of mach 2.05 (2,220 km/h)
A video of the Russian defense ministry shows the plane in action.
The supersonic Tupolew Tu-160, which unofficially goes by the name “White Swan“, is the heaviest fighter jet ever to fly a combat mission.
