Trump's statements could get Clinton shot, just like her father was.
Ronald Reagan’s daughter, Patti Davis (born Patricia Ann Reagan), denounced Donald Trump in a public Facebook post. Her words were in reaction to Trump’s statements last week, which were interpreted by many to be a call to arms against Hillary Clinton.
- Her denunciation of Trump is extremely powerful because of her father.
- Ronald Reagan, the former President and a symbol of conservatism, was shot by someone who just wanted attention.
- One of Trump’s supporters could easily do the same to Clinton.
- Reagan’s Daughter points out that “words matter,” and how dangerous it is to make such statements because they could be taken seriously and acted upon by one of his supporters.

As we reported days ago, at a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, Trump made a statement about Hillary Clinton, which seemed to suggest he was encouraging his supporters to assassinate her. It seems to be the case that Trump was implying his supporters should shoot her to prevent her from appointing liberal judges and abolishing the Second Amendment as President.
His exact words were: “Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment. If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the second amendment people, maybe there is.”
The Secret Service says they have had more than one conversation with Trump about this issue, though Trump denies this. Clinton’s campaign responded by saying that as a presidential candidate, Trump shouldn’t suggest violence.
Trump’s campaign released a statement clarifying the meaning of his words at the rally. The statement clarifies that he meant that the Second Amendment supporters could do something: vote in record numbers, not shoot Clinton if she gets elected. “It’s called the power of unification — 2nd Amendment people have amazing spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power. And this year, they will be voting in record numbers, and it won’t be for Hillary Clinton, it will be for Donald Trump.”
