Listen and feel the strength of La Grande Nation
This scene from the historic film classic “Casablanca” gives testament to the true strength of the French spirit of freedom and republicanism
One of film history’s most famous scenes celebrates French defiance in the face of inhumanity and terror.
In Michael Curtiz 1942 masterpiece bar owner Humphrey Bogart is drawn into the fight against Nazi Germany by his former flame Ingrid Bergman. When Germans enter his establishment and start singing patriotic songs, a leader of the Resistance prompts the band to play La Marseilles in an act of defiance. The entire crowd chimes in leaving the Germans humiliated.
A sign of pride, strength and victory at the very end.
