American's opinions regarding civil rights have hardly changed in 50 years.
Pew Research Center has released a study that suggests American attitudes towards civil rights movements haven’t changed much in 60 years. The Black Lives Matter movement, like the Civil Rights Movement of the 60s, is often not understood and similar percentages of Americans are split between supporting and opposing the movement. If opinions of the Civil Rights Movement were similar to the opinions of Black Lives Matter, will we look back on today 50 years from now and believe that it was all a necessary struggle? Will we take a new level of equality for granted just like we take voting rights for granted?
