ISAF for nothing - will the Taliban win at the end ?
Six American service members, United States officials said, have been killed in a suicide attack near Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan in the province of Helmland.
They are part of 12,000 foreign soldiers deployed still in Afghanistan with operation ‘Resolute Support International’, after ISAF finished its 13 years mission in 2014.
65 percent of this area is controlled by Taliban fighters.
More than 100 Afghan soldiers have died so far in the battle.
Another three foreign troops were wounded in the attack, which happened at around 1.30 p.m. local time.
The attack, for which the Taliban has claimed responsibility, happened when a suicide bomber on a motorcycle crushed into a patrol of eight while they were driving through a nearby village.
Bagram is the biggest U.S. military facility in Afghanistan.
The incident marks the first larger attack on foreign forces in Afghanistan since August 22, when three contractors were killed in an attack on a NATO convoy.
