After the prevented attack on the game France-Germany in Paris Friday last week, Germany’s friendly with the Netherlands was called off this evening, because of an “intention to ignite explosives” at the Hannover 49,000-capacity HDI stadium in North Germany.

The president of the city police said there were “concrete security threats”.

Federal Minister of the Interior Thomas de Maiziere said: “The match was called off on my recommendation. There is a high level of threat for Germany and Europe.” French intelligence officers had informed the Germans just hours before.

Belgium’s friendly with Spain in Brussels, scheduled for today,  was called off yesterday  because of security concerns.

Only the match England against France at Wembley went ahead tuesday. Fans showed solidarity with Paris waving the French tricolore, the French national anthem La Marseillaise was played. A song against terror.
