Globalo Co-founder Marcel Mettelsiefen is a two-time EMMY and BAFTA Award winning documentary film maker who has traveled incognito to war torn Syria 24 times. As part of Globalo’s Editorial Board he will oversee our video productions. His film 'Agony of Aleppo’s Children' was awarded TV News Story of the Year by the London Foreign Press Association in 2013 and with the International Emmy Award (2014). His film ‚Children on the Frontline' was awarded two BAFTA´s and an International Emmy in 2015. He has worked for international news agencies in the Middle East, Afghanistan, Iraq and Haiti. In 2009 he interrupted his studies to go to Afghanistan to work on several photo reportage projects. Marcel has been covering the Arab spring and started going to Syria in April 2011. His reports from Syria have aired on Channel4, PBS Frontline, ZDF, CNN, Al Jazeera and Canal+. He's also known for his work at Frontline and Unreported Worlds. Among his many awards are: Edward R.Murrow Award for „Homs - a City Under Siege" for CNN 2012 New York, documentary festival, FPA award, Hanns-Joachim Friedrichs Preis Journalist of the Year Award 2014, Axel Springer Preis 2011, Rory Peck 2013, Cinema for Peace Award at the Berlinale 2014, Edinburgh TV Festival Award for Best Producer Director debut 2014, Prix Bayeux International Award 2014, Grierson Best Documentary on a Contemporary Theme award 2014, Association for International Broadcasting Award 2014, One World Media - Television Award, Amnesty International, Gaby Rado Memorial Award 2014, BAFTA CRAFT - Factual Photograph 2015, BAFTA best current affairs 2015, FIGRA Award 2015 , Grimme Preis 2015, Peabody Award 2015, Prix de Italy 2015.
